What is water temperature in the SAC and Rose pools?
The Student Activity Center Natatorium water temperature range is 82-84 degrees Fahrenheit for the lap pool and 100-103 degrees Fahrenheit for the spa. This is the recommended range for recreational pools and spas. SAC Natatorium offers a variety of activities including lap swimming, informal recreation, water exercise, and family swim.
The Rose Natatorium water temperature range is 85-87 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the recommended range for instructional and therapeutic pools. Rose Natatorium primarily offers activities including swimming classes for infants through adults, water exercise, senior aqua, aquatic safety education courses, water therapy, and academic courses.
Can I rent out the pool for an event?
The Rose Pool may be rented out for special events including birthday parties, church groups, and school groups. All participants must fill out an informed consent form, and some groups may be required to have an insurance binder.
Please contact Jen Walters, Assistant Director of Facilities & Customer Relations, (walte2jl@cmich.edu) to reserve the space.
Only Coast Guard and URec approved floatation devices are allowed in the pool. Participants will need to supply their own Coast Guard approved flotation devices. Inner tubes, noodles and other flotation devices are prohibited except during URec approved activities. You may view a complete list of our rules.
Why must I wear appropriate swimwear when using the pool or spa?
Commercial swim attire must be worn while using the pool and spa to ensure the cleanliness of the facility and safety of patrons. Approved swim diapers or protective covering must be worn by all participants who are not toilet trained. You may view a complete list of our rules.
What is Parent-Tot Swim?
Parent-Tot Swim is a time for families to enjoy a shallower depth in the pool. At this time, half of the SAC pool will be raised to a 2ft depth, while the other half of the pool remains at the 4ft depth. There will not be any lap swimming available at this time. Parent-Tot Swim takes place on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
How do I get a job as a lifeguard at SAC Pool?
All URec lifeguards must be certified by American Red Cross and attend a schedule Lifeguard Screening (usually once a semester and in the summer). Please refer to the URec employment website to view open positions and eligibility requirements.
