What is Personal Training?
Personal Training is a service offered to members who are looking for fitness advice to develop an individualized workout program. It is also a service that provides a member one-on-one training with a Personal Trainer. Your trainer will create and guide you through your entire workout, while providing fitness education and cuing proper technique and form. This program is an excellent opportunity to obtain assistance in meeting individual health/fitness goals.

PERSONAL TRAINING SESSION DESCRIPTIONS
Often the hardest part of getting into shape is taking the first step. Personal Training is a great place to go for starting an exercise program. This program is designed for people of all fitness levels; whether you’ve never exercised before, exercise regularly, or have a background of being an elite athlete. This program is designed to help clients design a workout plan that is individualized to their specific goals.
The Personal Training staff consists of CMU students who are in health fitness field, and are trained to do fitness assessments and workout programming. Our policy is to provide a professional and confidential service, while helping you toward meeting your individual fitness goals. Keep in mind that after your initial assessment, a referral may be necessary because of the limitations of our staff to meet your specific needs.
Personal Training consists of three one-on-one sessions with the opportunity to purchase additional packages for ongoing training with a trainer. Descriptions of the initial three sessions are listed below:
Session One(*Maroon Package only) involves a full fitness assessment, health and exercise history interview, and goal planning. The fitness assessment consists of a blood pressure reading, a 3-minute cardiovascular step test, body weight, body fat analysis(skinfolds), flexibility, as well as muscular strength and muscular endurance tests. The results from these tests assist in developing an appropriate level for your individualized workout program. It also indicates areas of fitness that may need extra attention. After your assessment, you will sit down with your Personal Trainer and he/she will begin to develop your personalized fitness program based on the assessment and the information received from the health and exercise history interview.
*One should dress appropriately for activity each session. Shorts are only required for the first session.
Session Two involves receiving the specifically planned workout program designed for you by your Personal Trainer. This program will fit into your personal schedule and includes exercises that you can do with or without . Be sure to dress for activity because your trainer will take you through the workout for some one-on-one training. Your Personal Trainer will teach you proper form, how to monitor intensity levels, and provide encouragement and support throughout your entire workout.
Session Three and beyond is the final session of the package. This is a one-on-one session with your Personal Trainer. They will take a look at how you perform exercises and determine if any adjustments need to be made. This is a great time to ask questions after having had a week to implement the program on your own.
*Upon completion of your first 3-session package, you may want to purchase additional packages. Many people purchase more sessions so that they can have their Personal Trainer work with them one-on-one during all their workouts.
